Tottenham fans furious at Thomas Frank after Nottingham Forest defeat
Tottenham came into the match after defeating Slavia Prague 3-0 in the Champions League. Although Spurs were rated higher, Forest - with a brace from Callum Hudson-Odoi and a goal from Ibrahim Sangaré - condemned Tottenham to their third defeat in five matches, leaving them in 11th place.
After the match, many Spurs fans were furious with manager Thomas Frank and demanded his departure. They blamed him for the loss, criticising his tactics and disappointing results, with the team now down to 11th in the table, even behind Everton and Brighton. Many fans expressed their anger on X, calling on the board to sack the Danish coach.
Thomas Frank said after the match: “I think it’s pretty evident that if no one gets time, no one can turn this around. I do everything to control my emotions, which are a hurricane inside me, because of course it’s deeply frustrating that we are not doing better today after three good performances.
“I think it is extremely important to be calm and measured and, of course, have very, very direct and clear messages at the right time, so there’s no doubt about what I think. I’m very honest about where we are as well. I was also very honest - today was a very bad performance, no two ways about that.
“But I also know that to change this will take some time. No one will want to hear about that. It’s just reality. I think the ones who have followed the club and the team will agree there have been a few inconsistent performances, and that’s the issue. We are working very hard.”
This is not even the worst situation for Thomas Frank, as Tottenham’s Premier League schedule is very tough. They will first meet Liverpool at home on 21/12, then Crystal Palace on 28/12, followed by Brentford, Sunderland and Bournemouth from 2-8/1/2026. If results continue to go wrong, Frank could even lose his job before the New Year.
If Thomas Frank is sacked, there are not many obvious replacements for Tottenham. The most likely option is Oliver Glasner, but he is a target for several clubs, not only in the Premier League. Other names include Marco Silva of Fulham and Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth, although the chances of either joining Spurs are not considered high.
