Son Heung-min says final goodbye for Tottenham's fans: 'Don't forget me'

More than three months after leaving the club, Son Heung-min has finally had the chance to bid farewell to Tottenham supporters. In his emotional message, the former Spurs captain asked fans not to forget his decade-long journey in North London.

In August, Tottenham and their captain Son Heung-min parted ways after 10 years together. At the time, the Korean forward admitted it was “one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever made,”  he also played his final match against Newcastle at Seoul World Cup Stadium.

However, that friendly match never allowed him a true farewell in England. Today, before Tottenham’s Champions League game against Slavia Prague, Son finally received the moment he had been waiting for - a proper goodbye in front of the home crowd.

The 33-year-old said:

“I hope you guys don’t forget me, yeah? It’s been an amazing, incredible 10 years. I just want to say thank you. I’ll always be Spurs - this will always be my home. I’ll never forget you guys. Come visit me in LA, I’d love to see you more often. I love you all. Come On You Spurs!”

At Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Son was presented with a commemorative trophy by club legend Ledley King. Manager Thomas Frank, who worked with Son briefly, also shared his thoughts:

“It was good to see him. I mainly saw him right after the game here. I’m happy with the reception - a well-deserved reception for a Tottenham legend, a true Tottenham legend coming back home. He seems happy and settled in.”

Tottenham got a 3-0 win against Slavia Prague

Since joining LAFC in MLS, Son has scored 12 goals and provided 3 assists in 13 matches, helping the team finish third in the Eastern Conference after the Group Stage. However, LAFC were eliminated in the semifinals by Thomas Müller’s Vancouver Whitecaps on penalties, with Son missing his spot-kick. The Whitecaps eventually reached the MLS final but lost 1–3 to Inter Miami.

As for Tottenham, they defeated Slavia Prague 3–0 in the Champions League, moving to 11 points and ninth place in the Group Stage standings, just behind Liverpool. Their Premier League form, however, remains shaky - 22 points after 15 matches, sitting 11th and four points off the top four.
