Liverpool have no plans to bid farewell to Mohamed Salah in Brighton match
After revealing insider information about the club during the match against Leeds, Mohamed Salah has been out of the squad for four games in a row. In the recent match against Inter Milan, the 33-year-old winger did not travel with the team to Italy. With the current situation, the chance for the Egyptian to leave the club in the winter transfer window is very high.
Liverpool’s attention will now turn to the next match against Brighton at Anfield, as the team try to climb back into the top four after a devastating start. As Salah mentioned, this could be his last match for the club and he could say farewell to all the fans.
“I will be in Anfield to say goodbye to the fans and go to the Africa Cup of Nations,” Salah stated in an interview. “I don’t know what is going to happen when I am there.” Salah even said he invited his mother to watch the match as this could be his last appearance for Liverpool.
However, his wish may not come true as The Telegraph reported that Liverpool are not planning to let Salah say farewell to the fans. The club believe that allowing a farewell could put them at a disadvantage during negotiations because teams might see it as a sign that Salah will not return, and therefore try to lower his price.
As of now, there is strong interest in Salah, especially from Saudi clubs. Salah has even revealed that he has a good relationship with them and held talks before signing his contract with Liverpool in 2024.
After the Brighton match, Salah will travel back to Egypt to prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place from December 21st to January 18th, 2026. If Egypt reach the final, Salah could miss at least seven matches for the club. But as he said during the interview, “not sure what will happen next.”
